Do I need a referral?

Answer: Only under the following conditions:

  • If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident and your treatment is to be paid for by an insurance company.
  • If you are to be treated under a workers compensation claim.
  • If you wish to have treatment as part of a Team Care Arrangement organised by your GP.
  • If you have a gold or white Department of Veteran Affairs card.

Is physiotherapy covered under Medicare?

Answer: If you have a chronic condition your GP may set up a GP Management Plan with a Team Care Arrangement for up to 5 sessions of physiotherapy a year. There will be a gap payment also.

What shall I bring to my first treatment session?

Answer: Your referral letter if you have one; any xrays or scans; and a list of your current medications. For exercising in the gym bring sport shoes or trainers.

How long will the sessions be?

Answer: The initial consultation is 45 minutes for musculoskeletal conditions and one hour for neurological or developmental problems. The following sessions will be 30 minutes for musculoskeletal conditions and 45 minutes to one hour for paediatric and neurological physiotherapy.

How can I register a suggestion or complaint?

Answer:

  • There is a suggestion box on the table in the reception area.
  • Speak to the receptionist working behind the counter.

Is Peel Physiotherapy centre wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes. The building is wheelchair accessible from the rear entrance. There is also a disabled toilet available.
